Nokia Unveils the N8

By: Fast Lane Wireless

Nokia introduced its first smartphone based on the Symbian 3 operating system—the N8 phone.  The Symbian 3 system is designed to pose a threat toward Apple’s iPhone and Google’s Android devices in the higher-end handset market.

Powering by the software, the N8 features many major advances that include support for multi-touch, flick scrolling and pinch-zoom.  The phone connects people, places and services to popular social networks, on-demand Web TV programs and Ovi Store apps.  According to The Espoo, Finland-based company, said “the N8 features a 12.0-megapixel lens with Carl Zeiss optics and a Xenon flash to capture photos and record DVD-quality videos, rivaling those found in digital cameras.”  Click here for the phone’s full specification.

Nokia’s N8 is scheduled to hit the stores for $495 in selected markets starting in the third quarter.
