Today, Verizon introdudroid xced the Motorola Droid X as an attempt to compete with the iPhone 4, and the Android-powered handset comes equipped with awesome features.  Verizon’s introduction of the new device was not a coincidence—Verizon wants to point out that Droid X is a direct competitor to the anticipated iPhone 4.

Despite its similarities to the Droid, the new Droid X features a bigger (4.3-inch) touch screen display.  Motorola claim that consumers prefer a larger screen than a smaller one with a higher resolution.

The device comes in 8 GB and 18 GB and features an 8-megapixel camera that can also record 720p HD video.

The Droid X is scheduled to be released on July 15 for $199 for the entry model, after a $100 rebate and a two-year contract. Similar to AT&T’s marketing strategy for the iPhone 4, Verizon customers will be able to get the Droid X at the entry price if they are eligible to upgrade in 2010.
